This week, David Mayes - friend of Muscle Owl, and one of the closest friends to our co-editor, Vivek - passed away. He had Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
Our thoughts are with his family and friends. Read Vivek's tribute below:
David Mayes. I don’t really know how to start this goodbye, it’s really tough knowing that I’ll never see your face again. I’m so glad I got to spend time with you & make some fantastic memories.
You always made the best of every day - you actually lived life.
I’ve known you for 15+ years and you’ve always been such an awesome friend. At school I always thought of you as a mentor because you were the older cooler guy.
The past 5 years were fantastic as we really became closer friends. I discovered your secret that at school you thought of me as an annoying little shit haha. To be fair, I agree with you.
I loved our times staying at Rainbows Hospice, playing cards or board games until silly o’clock. You were a funny bad loser but you always made every second FUN.
You’ve lived such a full happy life! You were most alive when spreading your laughter with friends or family.
Dude, thank you for your friendship, humour & love. Who will I watch Star Wars: the Last Jedi with now?
I’ll miss you David Mayes & I’ll NEVER forget you. RIP mate.
